Punch 101: Foundation

Punch 101 is a detailed standalone course suitable for all sport taekwondo practitioners, and will teach you the fundamentals needed for effective use of the punch technique in 2021 and beyond. See the full curriculum below for the complete listing of all the lessons and activities you will undertake during the duration of this exceptional course.

About this Course

  • Course Level

    This course is a USA Taekwondo Standalone course. Each of the individual elements that make up our degree courses will also be available separately. If you complete and pass the course you will receive a certificate of completion, and your USA Taekwondo Membership Profile will be updated to reflect your new qualification.

  • Course Duration

    This course should take approximately seven days to complete and contains 34 individual sections. You can take the course at your own pace, if it takes you longer than a week that's fine. Don't rush through it, take time to practise each lesson.

  • Course Assessment

    As you progress you will need to pass a quiz about what you just learned in each video. Once you have completed all the lessons and quizzes you will take a final exam made up of a written section and a practical exam, where you will submit a video demonstrating what you have learned, which will be graded by University coaches. This final examination determines whether you pass or fail. One free retake is available.

Paul Green

Paul Green is an Olympic athlete and is now one of the most respected taekwondo coaches in the world, and arguably the finest mind in the game. He lives and breathes taekwondo, driving excellence in athletes through innovative drills, deeply considered tactics and techniques and a perfectionist attitude that has led to both his success as an athlete and, subsequently a resume that includes coaching athletes to gold medals at all possible levels, including multiple World and Olympic Gold medals. He is currently the Technical Director for USA Taekwondo and a key component in our drive to Dominate in '28 at the Los Angeles Olympic Games.

Gareth Brown

Gareth Brown's outstanding potential was identified by Paul Green very early in their time working together, and has emerged from Paul's mentorship as one of the finest coaches in the modern game. Day to day Gareth runs the USATKD Athlete Academy, bringing together the best athletes in the United States and turning them into world beaters. He is also the Head Coach for Team USA Taekwondo and has posted some of the most impressive results the country has seen in decades, coaching athletes to spectacular success in the Pan American Games, and helping athletes such as Anastasija Zolotic break records as the youngest ever medalist in Grand Prix history, and the youngest ever medalist in the Grand Prix Final.
